Capstone Project Notes

Final Project:

Create a classroom management plan handout (see below), such as the one you might distribute to students at the beginning of the school year.  Please review the feedback you received on Task 3 and Task 4.  Apply all that you have learned from the course.  Submit your Classroom Management Project in Canvas.

Classroom Management Plan EDS 8243

Create a classroom management plan handout similar to one you might distribute to students on the first day of school. This plan should reflect your philosophy on teaching as well as “best professional practice” as you have come to know it. Your classroom management plan should also evidence an understanding of the course readings, assignments, and feedback you have received this semester.

Your finished product should be created in a newsletter format (preferably using Microsoft Publisher or Apple’s Pages software; if necessary, Microsoft Word is acceptable) but should be uploaded as a PDF. Please make your plan visually appealing and in three columns. It should include the following elements:

· Teacher’s Name

· Subject

· Grade Level

· Brief Overview/Description of the Course

· Grading policies (grading scale, grade weighting, and late-work policy)

· Classroom rules and consequences (both positive and negative)

· Four Important Procedures

· Two quotations (one from your subject area and another one on discipline)

Be sure that both the subject and grade level are consistent with the Mississippi Department of Education course offerings and standards. For the course description you may also want to refer to middle school or high school websites. Many of these sites will include a curriculum guide and/or course description. Select four procedures that are, in your opinion, critical to a smooth and orderly functioning class. These four procedures should be selected in light of the subject, grade level, and maturity of your students. List the essential steps for each procedure that you expect your students to follow.
