Overview

In this assignment, you will add to the journal that you started in the Module 1 assignment, Writer’s Journal: Doctoral Concepts.

In this entry, respond to the following prompts:

• Reflect on your experience in building your research plan. What note-taking strategies seem most effective to you? What sources are you finding most helpful?
• What essential resources and tools do you want to add to your journal for reference as you progress with your writing? Why are these important to you? Identify the resources and include them, or link to them, in your journal entry.

• Demonstrate research skills, including utilizing library resources, searching databases, and notetaking.
• Evaluate research sources.
• Create a research plan.

Overview

In this assignment, you will create a plan for the reading and note-taking stage of your research. You will refine your topic, develop your search strategies, build a reliable note-taking system, and establish a plan that outlines clear goals and timelines for your progress.

First, review your own post in the Discussion: Research Area Exploration assignment. Select the research question that you’d most like to pursue.

Then, use the Learning Commons Search Strategy Worksheet Download Learning Commons Search Strategy Worksheetto develop your plan for searching for sources on your research question.

Finally, develop your research plan using the Research Plan template Download Research Plan template. Note that you will identify and take notes on at least five articles on your topic for this assignment. You will identify additional articles in future assignments.  Be that your written response abides by the standards of academic writing shared in Module 1 Preparation so that you can grow comfortable with the practice of academic writing.
